The MEININGER Hotel East Side Gallery is located in the middle of the district Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, and Warschauer Straße can easily be explored on foot. All other sights of the city are within easy reach thanks to the hotel’s proximity to Ostbahnhof station (S-Bahn train towards Mitte).
We are located in Berlin Friedrichshain, one of Berlin’s central districts, neighboured by Prenzlauer Berg, Mitte and Kreuzberg. Friedrichshain itself is known for its young and creative vibe, due to its enormous amount of bars, cafés, galleries, theatres, cultural institutions, restaurants, cheap eats... and then there are those great clubs, such as the Berghain, entitled as the “best club worldwide” by the New York Times and other newspapers and magazines that followed the echo.
I would recommend this accommodation without any doubt. Not only for the price, but also for the facilities, location and environment (youth). The rooms are very modern (with plug and individual light in each bed) in addition to the furniture. The common area of the hotel used to be full of young people with a good atmosphere to be with friends and have a drink. Regarding the location, there is a train stop 1 minute away (it connects directly with the SXF airport and the city center) so it facilitates mobility. In summary, I would recommend the hotel to spend a few days with friends and enjoy Berín.
Very clean, friendly and nice. Right next to the metro station. Staff super nice and nothing to worry about. Thank you so much ! : D
We had a pleasant stay in Berlin, and we slept comfortably in this clean hostel. The staff was welcoming and the room very clean! Great place.
The property is about a 3 minute walk to the main station, and its pretty easy to go to sights/bars. Its fairly cheap and is still very clean. The water pressure was nice, and a good bar. I will go back.
The mattress tops are stained otherwise good bedding. The staff is very nice.
10 minutes walk from the east side gallery and a tram station. The neighborhood is all under construction, so it has noise early in the morning. But the "private" kitchen space for 3-4 bedrooms is rather nice.
Facade of the hostel under construction, which can happen. Occupation of the hostel to its maximum, no normal size bath towels, not very serious with small. Mattresses a little demolished, but cleanliness of the bedding. Sometimes a little noise at night, the boxes are next. Nice place.
BATHROOMS-BEDROOMS-BREAKFAST-RECEPTIONISTAS-LOCALIZATION-OTHER SERVICES. ALL ESUPENDO. A 9.9 ON 10!
I stayed at this hostel with two of my friends in a triple room. The room was very clean, but there was no running hot water in our room due to construction. It is a great location in Berlin. It has a very hostel feel, with a bar and lots of people. However, we were only there for one night and was able to get a good sleep in our room.
The A&O Berlin Mitte is located in the Berlin district of the same name and is just two underground stations from the Alexanderplatz station and 10 minutes by foot from the Ostbahnhof station. With its central location the hostel is easy to reach by car, train or public transport and is the ideal starting point for excursions into the metropolis Berlin.
Generator Prenzlauer Berg is a stone’s throw from a Velodrom concert hall and an Olympic swimming pool. Not much further by tram, you’ll find some of Berlin’s big attractions, like the Stasi Museum, TV Tower and Alexanderplatz. A short walk away, Mauerpark is a local cultural hive of activity with public karaoke, inspired street art and Fleamarkets full of hidden treasures. Generator is the perfect launch pad for you to explore the city from.
Hostel well located especially if you are young and you plan to party, very close to the wall. The bathrooms left a little to be desired and the sheets and towels are not included must be paid separately.
We were a group of 13 people, we spent great time at the hostel.
The common areas are really cool, there is also playground for kids, and a large terrasse outside!
The price was good, however you have to rent the bed sheets, and they were not mentioned on the website (third party website). Same things, I thought that the price per night was 11.45€, but when I booked the price was at 14.50€... Only one night was at this price.
Arriving at the hostel we came across rude staff in cases that refused to speak English. They tried a kind of bribe, in exchange for sheets we should write a good review about them. If you want a good evaluation, treat your customers better, don't try to bribe, be receptive and clean the areas your guests use!
We went to use the kitchen and it was horrible. There were no cabinets, dish rack, dishcloth, the trash overflowed; not a week away, the filthy floor, there were only two pans to use and the hostel has capacity for many guests.
I will definitely not be returning to this hostel; I spent 12 days in Germany, the days I was in this hostel were the worst and most expensive!
very nice hostel, clean and well kept; a little out of the way
We stayed in dormitory of 8 beds for the financial aspect. However we were very disappointed that there is no kitchen, but considering the number of normal rooms ... By cons it is even asked not to bring food outside because the hostel has its own service of restoration but when you want to respect a budget ... not great. The "lockers are actually drawers under lots that do not lock ... What's more, the halls smell too strong disinfectant, and it's really not warm.Personal level it depends on who we are dealing. The bar, however, is nice and not very expensive - overall not the most cozy stay.
A good atmosphere and a warm welcome, despite this a really dirty room that leaves a bad impression. The hostel is well placed, outside the center of Berlin but next to transport which is a very positive point.
Very correct for its price The only concern is the noise (school groups) but the staff is not for nothing (perhaps to prevent the youth leaders)
Unsanitary room. The reception not at all friendly. They told me nothing about throwing the key on it. Horrible corridors with vomit and waste. Propore bed filled with hair and hair. The key to my room never worked ...
You’ve also got the Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz U-Bahn station directly outside our front door.
The hostel is located just a few minutes away via public transport from the Television Tower in Alexanderplatz. Moreover, MEININGER Berlin Alexanderplatz is located directly at the Senefelder Platz train station on Schönhauser Allee and you can discover the region of Berlin Mitte on foot.
Small flat on the showers that are not very practical! Otherwise everything
Great location, in front of Rosa metro station, very friendly and always available staff, large comfortable dormitory
Je recommande cette auberge. Il y a eu vraiment un bon accueil et un effort sur les services. Le prix est vraiment bas. Le personnel souriant
Perfect stay! I recommend and I will come back
well located, pleasant bar, chaotic welcome
Great hostel, everything went well. It was just poorly explained that breakfast was extra (€ 7)
Clean hostel and services at the height
it was dirty in the communal kitchen and in the bedrooms; shower and clogged toilets; broken flap;
Excellent value for money, very clean and very well located. Appears more like a hotel than a youth hostel. The kitchen is however disappointing, blind, in the basement and too small for the number of vacationers who want to make food.
The Brandenburg Gate can be reached in 35-minutes using public transport & Museum Island, where many of Berlin’s museums & galleries are situated, is 4.5 km away.
It is 3.5 km to Alexanderplatz from the hostel.
Free public parking is available near the hostel
There are many bars, clubs, cafes, restaurants, shops & supermarkets all within a 5-10 min walk from us.
All around the Oberbaumbrücke (bridge upon the river spree) you will find a lot of art & history concerning Berlin.
The A&O Berlin Friedrichshain opened right by the central intra-city Ostkreuz train station in the popular student district. The former factory building features 233 rooms with modern furnishings.
Give something bad roll but for the price is fine
Great hostesses are very friendly and very clean
A simple hostel, with good heating and very well located, with supermarkets (Lidel, a bio ...), cafes, shops, the metro station where you can take any direction and about 20 from the airport.
The hostel is close to the metro and allows to be in the center quickly. The only downside I will find is that being divided into several buildings, there is no soul that can be found in other hostels; we only communicate with the people in our room. If you do not pay for breakfast, you do not have access to the kitchen which is a problem because it means you have to eat outside each time or bring these short and others. Overall, it is better to pay a little more and have more benefits because in this hostel, the price is not high (which is good for students in particular) but each small service is extra (bed linen: 7 €, breakfast: 7 €, check-out beyond 10h: 10 € ...) Finally, I paid for a mixed room and my first night, I ended up in a room of 8 with 7 boys; I asked to change rooms because I was not very comfortable and I was told that the hostel was full or I had to pay extra to change the building ..
Great stay! I will probably come back again!
This hostel is big in Berlin and does the job for Berlin. Safe.
