The second MEININGER Hotel in Amsterdam is part of the city’s highest residential building and is situated directly opposite Amstel railway station. From here, it’s only a few minutes’ train ride into the city center. What’s more, the Amstel river runs through the neighborhood on its way to the sea.
Amsterdam Oost is one of the most up and coming areas in Amsterdam, with an exciting mix of cultures you’re bound to find the vibrancy that you’re expecting from your trip. Full of excellent restaurants, cafes and bars nearby you’ll have even more options if you decide to head out beyond the hostel for food and drink. When planning your trip be sure to check what’s on in the park, as it often plays host to markets and events that you wouldn’t want to miss.
I had a very pleasant stay, the hotel is great and the people at the reception are very available
Nice stay in this hostel. Clean room, good bedding and nice duvet.
Reassuring, friendly and very well located hostel (Intercity + metro 2min walk to Utrecht, Amsterdam Centraal and many others). The staff is very welcoming. The property looks a lot like a 4-star hotel, with several floors, large hallways and room access cards. There is a common kitchen room, a place to enjoy breakfast and / or snack and food vending machines. It is possible to choose the type of room: private (2 to 4 beds it seems to me with bathroom and toilet in the room) or dormitory (6 to 10 beds I think), reserved for women or men only or mixed. I was in a room for girls of 4 beds, with bathroom and toilet. Very clean, spacious, well attended, with secure personal lockers available under the bed, TV, hairdryer in the bathroom, night stand, personal electrical outlet, sheets and towels. Possibility to leave your suitcase in a secure locker all day on the first floor for 8 € if you do not feel confident with the people in your room. Only downside: the only washing machine and dryer in the common kitchen, not great. I recommend !
We had a very pleasant time at this hostel. Room very well equipped, there is nothing missing in the room And in addition they are super convenient. Cleanliness at the top. The very convenient location with 1min from the hostel: train station, metro, tram and bus. Bike rental on site. A shared kitchen. Very pretty hostel. Only two points to improve: the breakfast a bit too basic and the underground parking a bit too expensive. The reception and the staff available and very pleasant. If I have to go back to this place again, no doubt.
Thank you for your welcome, we had a very good stay.
Very comfortable room
Well located hostel
Welcoming and friendly staff
Restaurant ok (more vegetarian options for breakfast would be great. One of the dishes with eggs without salmon or bacon ...)
We were delighted with our stay, really very good value for money
Well located, near the tram stops. Happy people, nice people, good with life. Nice ambience, room in great condition, clean bed linen ... perfect
I liked to reach the GENRATOR inn in 20 minutes from the central station with the tram. In the evening after a day of sightseeing and exhibitions, it was nice to sit on a park bench just behind the hostel.
Hostel really top for a short stay: clean - modern - quiet Price of breakfast a bit too high
Super cafeteria, individual badges, very good reception, beautiful setting in a park, with metro and tram nearby, very comfortable beds, equipped bathroom and sufficiently large, furnished room with individual chests under the beds (only need a padlock ). In short, completely satisfied with my 3 nights
There is a tram stop at 50 m from the property and it offers links to different sites of the city. Rembrandtplein is 1.2 km away and Red Light District is within a short walking distance.
The hostel is 1.5 km from Amsterdam Central Station, 1.4 km from Dam Square and 2 km from Leidseplein.
Van Gogh Museum is 2.5km away.
Amsterdam City Centre is great for travellers interested in architecture, city trips and walking.
Lots of choices of bars, restaurants and nightlife/clubs all around our hostel.
The hostel is located to the east of the city centre in a quiet, typical Amsterdam neighbourhood. Amsterdam’s historic centre is less than 15 minutes away by bike or tram. Stayokay Amsterdam Oost has its own café-restaurant and shares the premises with a number of interesting neighbours, which means that there’s always plenty to do, if you stay here.
Clean, new beds, nice smiley staff friendly funny. 30 beds announced in the room but we were not shy. Very inexpensive ... Very nice!
clean in central Amsterdam
Very nice stay at this hostel with my friends. The hostel is close to everything and the staff is friendly. As for the room (private) mattresses were a little hard but the room still met our expectations. I recommend
The hostel is uncomfortable I had one of the worst moments of my life with a bathroom that is less than one square meter.
The site does not comply at all with what the publication offers in your application. They have no lockers. The common places do not match the photos. And, in our particular case, we bought accommodation in a 6-bunk bedroom and ended up sleeping in one of 12 bunk beds with just one bathroom. In addition the bathroom in question without going into hygiene details, had the sector of pipes and wiring without protections and exposed. Not recommended at all. I suggest inspection.
Very unpleasant hostel, very "factory", we do not find the human side that we can look for in a youth hostel. For an inn that cost as much as a hotel I should have chosen the hotel! We spent two nights in this inn, it is certainly very pretty but also very impersonal. During the two nights we were disturbed by a visibly alcoholic man who threatened us in the middle of the night and who played the music loudly. It is for this reason that I give a very poor rating for security, it is the first time that I am afraid of sleeping in a hostel.
The hostel is not very well placed either, very far from the city center on foot, you are obliged to take public transport, there is a tram stop 5 minutes walk but the tram itself is very expensive.
In short, very disappointed with this inn, absolutely 0 security, not warm, not human, it's a factory.
A very good hostel both for school trips, backpackers, trips for friends, families ... In fact, the entrance looks like a hotel. The lobby and cafeteria area are beautiful, renovated, youthful, very modern and clean.
The rooms are great, clean, with plenty of space even when they are full (we were in a room of 6 people / 3 bunk beds). They have private shower and bathroom, all perfect. The only bad thing that we take to the room is the fact that the lamp is somewhat dim (which is good for not disturbing your classmates when they sleep but bad for those and those who like to put on some makeup) . What we did was go down to the bathrooms in the lobby to put on makeup. The beds are quite comfortable to be a hostel that we pay at 160 euros for 7 nights and we have no other problems.
The location is 10 since there is a tram stop 1 minute (in front of the hostel a little further) where for the 14 that is the one that takes to go downtown. Getting around in Amsterdam is very easy.
The bad thing is that it has no kitchen, there is only a microwave in a room. Good thing, it can get you out of the way but it is not the same as a kitchen where you can cook pasta, do something grilled ... That the body asks after being 7 days eating out, hahahah. For those who eat late, the hostel gives food until 10 at night, so keep that in mind.
Comfortable and well-appointed inn Indoor snack bar open over a wide time range Close to several tram and bus stations
The hostel and our room were such as in the photos (the historic building of the exterior and modern interior with a large seating area on the ground floor and a huge canteen where buffet breakfast is served). The location is perfect with 1 tram and 1 bus nearby (not even 5 min walk) that make getting to the city center very easy. We had a great weekend!
Good place to sleep, not expensive. Well located Tram stop next door. The rooms are comfortable. However the reception staff is not very welcoming
If guests would like to explore the surroundings, they can visit Rembrandtplein and the Flower Market at 450 m away and Royal Palace Amsterdam at 750 m. Schiphol Airport is located at 15 km away.
The Hans Brinker Hostel is nestled between the iconic canals of Amsterdam; an easy 10 minute walk to the famous red-light district and a 5 minute walk to the entertainment area around Leidseplein and the iconic museums at Museumplein.
The rooms and facilities are very well appointed.
Satisfied with the stay, well located hostel, center and train station not far.
Well located but no atmosphere
Friendly hostel close to the red light but complicated access.
I stayed 1 night in a 4 bed room.
The bed was clean and confortable. Shower and toilets were clean too. There is a lot of people to meet in this hostel and the bar downstairs is good. Well located.
I recomend this hostel!
A very good hostel, ideally located, within walking distance of the center, museums and places to go out. We had a room of 4 with bathroom, very clean. Breakfast is offered every morning, super nice! Do not hesitate !
The general very well, the bedrooms complete and clean, the breakfast good. The worst is the shower.
Room with strict minimum (iron bunk beds + tiny bathroom). Very noisy (bad insulation, doors slamming at all times). But all this justifies the low price, which is interesting for small budgets.
Room + breakfast included. Good service for the price. I recommend this hostel. Note that the coffee shops are located opposite the city, Central Station side (A 15min walk from the hostel). Have a nice trip :)
The Flying Pig Uptown is a relaxed home away from home for backpackers offering a real party vibe! A great place to meet new friends, chill out, have a party - and to explore the city with the tram right on our doorstep. Basing yourself here means benefiting from the true Amsterdam vibe as well as having The Red Light District is just a 20 minute walk away.
It has a unique location in the middle of the famous Vondelpark – a stone’s throw from the city’s shopping streets, museums and vibrant nightlife.
Very welcoming staff. No noise on the floors. Rest assured
Hostel ideally located: next to museums, in a nice neighborhood, 30 minutes walk from the train station or the Jordaan district. Super friendly staff! It just lacks a sink in the room;) And a bit expensive .... (55th / night for a dormitory at 6!)
This place is very lively in the common places while being very quiet and isolated in the floors reserved for the night and the shower. The staff is dedicated and always in a good mood. All the young people who stay there are very positive and it is an opportunity to make a good meeting. I had the misfortune to forget my computer all night in the common smoking room and it was brought back to the reception. We feel so comfortable and safe in this hostel! I highly recommend it to all young people looking for an outing on Amsterdam.
The flying pug was the best hostel of all time, I really loved it and I plan to come back in the summer.
The hostel is perfectly located, 5 minutes from a tram, and a few minutes from the museums. The staff were very pleasant and even gave us little restaurant addresses to do. The dorms are spacious and very clean. The hostel itself is very nice. As for breakfast, it is well worth the detour for quality / price! Security is the order of the day, and we had no problems with it. And the price / quality ratio was really top. Nothing to say, only positive !!
It is located in an accessible place, close to several museums and important points of the city. Excellent administrative staff, as they provided detailed information and the chek-in was very fast. They offer continental breakfasts that are good and at a fair price. The place has plenty of space to talk or just be doing something to pass the time. The bar at a reasonable price and with promotions. Very safe since it has electronic cards to enter the rooms.
Modern, new, clean. Reasonable prices. Very well located.
We stayed for 3 days at Stayokay Vondelpark, we were 5 friends in dorm. The hostel is ideally located, close to the center and also more outlying areas and just as nice to go out as De Pjip. Positive point everyone with his pass to return, no need to negotiate for the return to the room. The bike rental service 12 euros / day (+ 25 euros deposit) is unbeatable for a day trip, if you want to rent longer the home recommends you renters nearby. We did not try the restaurant or activities downstairs but the atmosphere was always warm. We will definitely come back!
Good hostel in terms of services (very complete breakfast for 7 €, a bar, a restaurant, many places to ask). It is very well located, everything is done on foot or by bike. The hostel and the rooms are clean. The dorms are a bit rustic and there is not much atmosphere because of very many families with children. You will find a place to leave your luggage on the day of your departure which is paying 1 € = 5h.
