Hostel – Quebec City Attractions

Whether you are fond of open spaces, shopping or winter sports, you’ll find your happiness in Quebec City. Petit-Champlain’s quarter is full of charming little shops and places to visit. Indulge yourself with a tour of The Funiculaire, which connects the Petit-Champlain’s quarter (Basse-Ville) to the Terrasse Dufferin (Haute-Ville), where you get an incredible view of the surrounding landscape. It is in the historic district of Vieux-Québec that “Les Fêtes de la Nouvelle-France” have been taking place during summer for many years now. This festive event will take you back into the past for a few days, nearly 400 years ago, when the Nouvelle-France was still a French colony.

Each summer is also held Le Festival d’été de Québec, which is defined as “the largest outdoor arts festival in Canada.” For ten days, the shows follow one another in the streets and on indoor and outdoor stages. In a few words, this is the great celebration of music!

If you have the chance to see Le Moulin à Images, do not hesitate and go for it! This masterpiece is the largest sound and images production that you will be given to see. Projected on the grain silos of the Vieux Port de Québec (a screen of more than 1800 feet long by 90 high!), pictures and movies relate the 400 year history of the city in 50 minutes. An amazing work of art!

If you travel during winter, come to attend the renowned Carnaval de Québec. Take your family to watch the parades, have a look at the Ice Palace, greet Bonhomme and taste the “Caribou”! Dress warmly, however, since the temperature can easily drop to -30 ° C during winter…  nothing better than enjoying a hot chocolate when you return to your hostel!
