The A&O Hamburg City opened in May 2012. The house offers modernly furnished single, double or family rooms with a great hotel standard (hotel area) and spacious 4 to 8 dorms with comfortable beds (hostel area). The huge lobby and entrance area, with billiard and table soccer as well as a kids' play area, provides a welcoming atmosphere with an international charm. New: Wi-Fi is free of charge in every room and in all public areas!

The hostel is located 20 minutes on foot from the very charming historic town center in red brick, the premises are very modern: the beds are well equipped to put all kinds of things close to you (dormitory for 6 people), with USB sockets for each berth. However, they charge for the sheets, which I find unfortunate because it was not clearly specified when booking. What is also good is that we had access to the guest kitchen where we were able to cook our own food and store our perishable food in the fridge. The room also has its own bathroom / toilet which is comfortable

Despite a small problem at first, everything else was impeccable. The dorms were niquel and for a very affordable price. In addition several activities and services are offered in the hostel. We are a real little jewel for all globetrotters wanting to make a stopover.

This hostel was amazing. It's not that far from the city centre (only 2 U-bahn stops from Berliner tor) and it's situated in a nice residential area. The hostel was very clean with modern refurbishment. Bathrooms are shared with only 4 people in

Very nice place to stay. Not in the center but can be accessed easily by underground during the day and buses during the night. There is even a night bus from St. Pauli. The rooms are clean, well equiped, each of them has shower, wc, tv etc. The breakfast

In November 2007 the A&O in Hamburg opened in close proximity to the Central Station. The former Kontorhaus was once a warehouse for goods from the most varied countries. Today guests from all over the world can stay in the modern rooms of the second largest A&O in Hamburg.

It was perfect for a group of mates wanting to celebrate the New Year taking in Hamburg's nightlife. We were in a 'dorm' but it turned out we had our own rooms. No questions asked coming back late. No apparent problems with security.

The A&O Hamburg Reeperbahn opened in June 2009. In the building of the former Hotel Stern one can still sense the cult atmosphere of the 80s right in the middle of the district. On the most sinful mile in all of Germany the Reeperbahn the hotel offers rooms in close vicinity to all the hustle and bustle.

the stay was pleasant and the hostel was clean. there was free parking for cars nearby. We didn't try breakfast but the prices weren't expensive.
Misplaced hostel, old rooms, no outlets
The neighborhood is very badly placed (between sexshops, and it is the neighborhood of anarchists). I advise against hanging out at night. Also, the room is very old, no sockets, very uncomfortable bed. We had to change rooms, which was a little better but it was still not that. In short, I really do not recommend! And I am very disappointed.

Hello, I am a young traveler, and I have never stayed in something as bad as this hostel. The rooms were really dirty, no one came to clean them during our stay. Two of our roommates were smoking inside even though it was a non smoking room. On my second night there, I woke up in the middle of the night because I thought something was moving under my blanket. I wanted a second and it moved again. I through the blanket on the side and a little black rat was there and ran away. We left the next day, and the staff (that barely talked to us during the whole stay) forgot to tell us that the check out time was before 10am. We believed it was before noon and they wanted us to pay an extra 10 euros for a 20mn late check out even though there were rats in the room at night. I don't recommend this hostel at all because it is not even that cheap considering how crappy it is.
Worst hostel we've ever been
We made a reservation on this webpage in October for our stay in A&O Hamburg (St Pauli) in January. The webpage dictated that two private rooms for 4 people each had the surprising price of 140 euros, however, when we arrived at the hostel, the reservation they had was for only 2 people. So, we had to book another room for more money and already occupied and, besides, we couldn't stay saturday night because it was full. All in all we had to find another hostel ourselves which had available rooms for our group, (we were lucky bearing in mind it was weekend) The former hostel wasn't helpful at all, in fact, they couldn't care less. We think the hostel should look at the webpages from time to time and verify the information given there, so as to avoid this predicament.
