very friendly staff and clean establishment
Really good value for money, we had a very good stay in the hostel, which is very well located. All the same, a lack of cleanliness (dust in the rooms, hair in the bathrooms) and a fairly small room, especially for storing things.
This youth hostel is my new #1 WORST hostel I've ever stayed in and I've stayed in quite a few. The premises are very dilapidated and dirty. There are not enough toilets and showers compared to the number of beds. The shower trays were mostly clogged, all the joints were moldy, the tiles were broken with water coming out when you walked on them. Only two sockets on the floor for the room of 6 I was in, the lockers half broken and no individual lamps. When my partner and I arrived, the beds didn't look like they had been changed, there were hairs and dust on them. The worst thing was the presence of BEDBUGS!!!! Our 3 other roommates had been stung and had to change rooms the day before, so the first night we were not worried and had no problems. The second night the management suggested that we change rooms because ours would be under "works" early the next morning. Without further details, we naively thought that the work was to renovate it a little, because it was in very poor condition. And as we got up very early we kept the same room. Without them seeing any inconvenience. What a mistake !!! We had a very bad night and our bodies were covered in bites the next morning... We took pictures of the bugs and showed them to the staff. The answer was "yes, the room is just going to be treated today". Annoyed, I asked why and how they dared to let us sleep in this room if they knew about it?! Their response: "Um... Sorry" Oh yes ! And our towels were stolen.
The comfort is basic, but more than enough given the price paid per night. Well placed near transport to get to the heart of London in less than 30 minutes.
