Amapondo Backpacker Hostel is a original backpackers outside of the African vibrant town of Port St Johns. The backpackers has ama-azing views of the beach, Ama-licious food & drinks with vegetarian options to choose from and Ama-friendly staff.
Only a 3 minute walk down to the beach! Set amongst a tropical rainforest.
We offer guided nature walks & Snorkelling, among lots of other activities.
We have our own Pondolicious bar & restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Live music Nights

Pondolicious bar has a chilled island style feel and there is a range of beverages to choose from. There are pool competitions, fancy dress box and occasional live music.

Surroundings
Our hostel is 4km on a tarred road from town where there are banks, shops, traditional African shops and restaurants. Second beach is a short walk from Amapondo Hostel. Coastal and forest hikes can be explored from the hostel. River and ocean trips can be arranged from the local tour operator.
Guests can enjoy reading a book in a hammock or take an excursion to Bululo Waterfalls or nearby mud caves. Tours can also be organised for Silaka Nature Reserve, 3 km away by car.

Amapondo Backpackers was originally a orphanage for HIV mothers and children. Over the years it became a commune and then to pay the utility bills a backpackers.
The backpackers supports the local crèche and you are more than welcome to take a tour to the local village to see the crèche.

awesome vibe! The bar turns into a major hang out spot, which is really fun. Some of the tours were good too.
