A nice hostel with a basic atmosphere for those who want to stay in the heart of Madrid. Friendly and helpful staff. I highly recommend it

I have seen a lot of negative comments about this hostel but I wanted to see with my own eyes because the hostel is well located in the city center. As soon as I arrived, the air conditioning worked in the room, then it didn't work for my entire stay despite my report to reception (in the middle of August). Then I expected to find some activities provided by the establishment as it was marked on the hostel's presentation page (guided tour and bar crawl in the evening). Nothing at all. The hostel didn't organize anything. Only false advertising. In the room, the bathroom lock didn't work. And finally, in terms of atmosphere, a great unease because no young people between 20 and 30 years old to chat and sympathize. Only old men alone, 45 years old, with an unpleasant air and putting their bare feet on the tables or on the sofas. Very strange for a "youth" hostel. We had to go and find the atmosphere outside.

My friend (and others on the same night) had his laptop and camera stolen from the hostel (broken door and lockers). Not only is there not the slightest measure of security (and this is not the first incident that occurs in this hostel, a guy forced to stay there for the time to find housing has said that there were other flights a few days earlier), but also the staff does not accompany us in any way. Fortunately, my friend and I are fluent in Spanish, but I let you imagine the galley for the two non-Hispanic Moroccans who were robbed the same evening if we had not been there. The Motion Chueca hostel is very well located (in the city center), everything is within walking distance.
