Location and friendly welcome but not very pleasant accommodation

Week in Barcelona in early September. We only met a couple who seem to be there all year round, but no travelers. The Sant Antoni district in which the accommodation is located is quite nice and rather well located. The reception is rather flexible and accommodating, however the accommodation is not the most pleasant. The smell of fried food was very present in the room and the bathroom, the paint seemed to be still being worked on, the place was very dark (this point is excusable because it is frequent for apartments in Barcelona). It's a shame because some small works would make the place much more pleasant ...
