Safestay Edinburgh Cowgate

We had a very pleasant stay in a mixed 6-bed room with a private bathroom. The staff were very friendly. We dropped off our luggage before check-in time.

Room above a pub. Cold showers in the evening. Not clean. One night to help out, nothing more.

I booked three beds in a four-bed dorm online. It stated there was a bathroom in the dorm. Upon arrival, I was told I had to pay for the fourth bed because I was traveling with minors, which I understand, but the website should have stated this from the start. We were on the ground floor. The small bathroom had been closed off as it was out of service. The shared bathrooms were in a deplorable state. And remained so until the next day, even though I was told they would be cleaned around 6 a.m. Mold everywhere, on the ceiling of the room and in the bathrooms.

Very well located place in the Old Town, possibility to visit the whole city on foot even if there is transport nearby. The welcome was good. The room was practical but not very clean (bottle of water, dust, earplugs lying around), it was too hot in the room and no possibility to turn down the heating. The toilets were clean and the showers are very hot and the jet is not very practical for washing. Good experience but things to review.

Although very well located, this hostel looks more like a money pump than anything else. The rooms are very poorly insulated from a sound point of view. They are located along the main corridor which resonates and whose floor creaks, and no one asks people to be discreet when they enter visibly. The bathrooms look like train station toilets and the showers are adjusted in such a way that the water jet hits you in the face unless you are stuck to the wall. Mold is visible in the common areas (also as impersonal as a doctor's waiting room). Of course there is no atmosphere, the staff does not want to be there and I understand that. During our stay there was water damage twice, and stepladders were left in the middle of the passage all night and in the morning without explanation. The beds are quite comfortable but the duvet is tiny, it is impossible to cover yourself completely. It is also impossible to air the room despite a certain humidity.

Super location, in the old town. Very friendly and helpful staff, top suitcase storage service. The room was big enough for 5 people.

Location is excellent. Luggage storage. Individual lamps in bed. Quiet at night.

It's right in the city centre, there are huge lockers in each room.

Lots of windows and ventilation in the room and surrounding corridors. Nice central location but not very noisy.

Easier to get to, great rooms, secure and the bar is a fantastic hub spot. Definitely recommend the place!

Excellent central location compared to the city and the atmosphere present in the hostel and the spaces. Although the room where we stayed was a bit small (it was 4) it was still clean and well served. Friendly and helpful staff 24h / 24h

Safe, good location

Safe, clean and light...in contrast to some dingier hostels in edinburgh. Great and reasonable restaurant menu with a bar that was lively but friendly and not rowdy. Staff lovely.

Hostel situated on main city centre. very good for traveller to exploring the city. Neat and clean with good facility of wifi.
